A dear friend of mine who works tirelessly to save and
help pit bulls sent this to me and it just broke my heart.
Pictured here is her rescued pit bull, Precious Michelle.
For the Pit Bulls
Can you help me?
He begs with his soulful brown eyes
There's nowhere for you to go,
She says as she cries
Can you save me?
She begs with her beautiful face
There's nowhere left
You're another hopeless case
Can you make room for me?
He begs as he stares
I can't find a place
The end of the road glares
We're fighting the fight as hard as we
can
We're fighting for you, But we're up against the ban
There's so much suffering, pain and
loss
Our hearts are breaking, But you're paying the highest cost
We're running out of space, we're running out
of time
I can't hear one more sad story, Your death is a crime
Can you help me? He asks as he begs for his
life
My heart is bleeding, Like I am cut with a knife
We're trying so hard, but we're losing the
fight
Can you save me? She pleads But I can't make things right
You're dumped, starved and beaten, hauled in
on a pole
Forgotten and put to death I am no longer whole
Can you save me? He whispers as he fades
away
Another piece of me dies, There is nothing left to say.

My friend is involved with the Missouri Pitbull
Rescue and her heart is broken every day. Like any
pitbull rescue, MPR is overwhelmed. With BSL being enacted
in new cities every day, with the horrors of dog fighting
and with the reputation that pit bulls have so unfairly
gotten, there are so many unwanted, thrown away, abused and
neglect pitbulls and such a shortage of foster homes and
forever homes. There is a shortage of donations and
money.
Today pit bulls make up the largest segment of dogs in
shelters and also the largest number of dogs that are
euthanized everyday. The goal of MPR, like any pit bulls
rescue, 'is to promote responsible Pit Bull ownership,
provide breed education, combat pet overpopulation, fight
unfair legislation's, and find qualified homes for sound Pit
Bull dogs.'
Please take a few minute to visit the Missouri Pitbull
Rescue website. Look at the beautiful and sweet faces of
the dogs, read their stories; some heartbreaking and some
with happy endings, learn about the breed, not the stories
and misconceptions put forth by the media every day. There
is so much to love about them. Please, take just a few
minutes out of your day.
Gig, this one's for you my dear! Never doubt the good you
do!
